Description

"The Style Adjacent" with Randi Rivera is a podcast rooted in this influencer's deep-seeded ardor for all things style; combine her love of fashion, music, art and culture, add education and experience in various creative industries, parlay that into a podcast, and you have The Style Adjacent.

There is a mantra here at TSA; "style supersedes fashion and trend, full stop."

Style is everlasting. It is a way of life, a mindset, an overall attitude. It is your introduction to the world without uttering a single word. The podcast is built on this concept, and it serves as a platform to introduce and celebrate this alignment by talking to designers, artists, musicians and the like, discovering each one's individual style journey.

Tuck in to a new episode every Thursday, when Randi will sit down for genuine, authentic conversation with some of Southern California's most fascinating, creative, and iconic individuals, to learn about their style journey through their craft. Episodes also explore trends and movements within creative genres like fashion, music, art, interiors, food & fare, as well as culture and community.

Because when it comes to style...everything is adjacent.

Los Angeles is a hell of a place; the "City of Angels" is such an incredible melting pot of individuals, each with unique stories, and at any time on a random day, your path may cross with one of them. I had the innate pleasure of meeting today’s guest when she was shopping at Westfield Century City mall, and her fun energy made me dig in a little deeper than my usual fact-finding questions I consistently deliver at work. I found out that Erin Hirsh is one of the most compelling, creative and clever costume designers in the entertainment industry and fashion world today; she has created iconic looks for some of the biggest names in music, television and film, reading like your dream guest list for a very lively and entertaining dinner party-Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Rihanna, Tracee Ellis-Ross and Janelle Monae to name a few. Groundbreaking is one of the adjectives frequently used regarding Erin’s creations; the light up jacket she created for Kanye West’s Grammy performance of Stronger is truly iconic; so much so, that it is part of the Grammy Museum’s permanent collection. Her decades long career in fashion began as a visual merchandiser for Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, under the creative direction of Our Lord and Savior of the ruby-red velvet pantsuit, Tom Ford. Currently, Erin holds court and serves looks as the Head Costume Designer for NBC’s Emmy Award winning series The Voice, who’s most recent season, Season 30, just premiered Monday, September 21. I guess what I’m trying to say, is that this woman truly holds a place in fashion’s history book.TSA listeners please welcome style visionary and fashion figurehead Erin Hirsch.Thank you for listening and remember, when it comes to style, it's ALL adjacent.Love, RandiCo-Host/Co-Creative Producer/Technician-Frank RiveraAudio Editing-Randi RiveraIntro/Outro Music-Derrick "Lord Monsta" Neal
Amanda Fletcher’s Instagram profile keeps it short and sweet. Writer, Trainer, breathwork facilitator. Neurodivergent weirdo in recovery. I am happy to say she is all these things. But I too am a writer, and what those 150 characters don’t tell you is what I will expand on; she is an activist and an ally, a style icon, a friend, a mentor, and a total goofball. She is, in the spirit of “Little Edie” Bouvier from the infamous documentary, Grey Gardens, a staunch character. To quote Little Edie directly, “ I’ll tell you, if there’s anything worse than a staunch woman. S-T-A-U-N-C-H. There’s nothing worse, I’m telling you. They don’t weaken, no matter what.” Strength and resilience, that’s what Amanda is all about. She has experienced incredible highs and navigated through subterranean lows in her life and through it all, she shows up for herself as well as others, advocating for love, vulnerability and acceptance, all while being completely unserious. This, among many other things, is why everyone loves her. I invite you to take notice of a story chock full of discovery, loss, love, sobriety, acceptance….and of course, cocaine. TSA listeners, it is a great honor and pleasure to introduce seasoned writer, trainer and breathwork practitioner Amanda Fletcher. Chicano artist, muralist and activist Fabian Debora is a shining example of channeling pain into purpose. Born to parents who immigrated from Mexico, Fabian’s upbringing was molded through poverty, gang exposure, drug addiction and attempted suicide. His story could have ended before it began. But in a pivotal moment of vulnerability, Fabian entered recovery and it changed his life. He went through the intervention program at a growing organization called Homeboy Industries. Under the guidance of Father Greg Boyle, aka Father G, Fabian became a substance abuse counselor and began re-connecting with the love that kept him safe throughout his traumatic young life-art. After exploring the medium through art mentoring and program development, he went back to Father G and founded Homeboy Art Academy, where various art mediums are woven into a trauma-informed curriculum to help students re-connect with their roots and culture, re identify through healing, and re-imagine a future for themselves through training and employment in the arts sector. Fabian also encountered incredible personal success with his art. Gathering numerous accolades including the National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Fellowship, Fabian exhibited his most commercially successful exhibit to date, Love Letters in 2024. Love Letters is an incredibly personal and socially focused art series that touches on the human condition, forgiveness and redemption, and the overarching impact incarceration has on the journey through these concepts. With an accompanying book and short film, Love Letters continues to be impactful to viewers around the world, with his exhibit recently showing in Mexico.Fat forward to his more recent collection, Cara de Vago. Partnering in spirit with 17th century artist Caravaggio, Fabian unites the spiritual and religious common threads that “weave our relationship to one another for a conversation as brothers and sisters navigating this journey of life and self-exploration.”TSA listeners, it is a great honor and pleasure to introduce acclaimed artist, muralist, activist and my boss, Fabian Debora.Thank you for listening and remember, when it comes to style, it's ALL adjacent.Love, RandiCo-Host/Co-Creative Producer/Technician-Frank RiveraAudio Editing-Randi RiveraIntro/Outro Music-Derrick "Lord Monsta" NealHide
Sometimes you just gotta get behind the mics and execute an audio download of the week and its affairs; so we did just that.Join Randi & Frankie as they discuss a week of exciting events, including a trip to Vegas, Frankie's Birthday, and Randi's appearance on Benny Boy Brewery's Female Founder panel. We also dig into the concept of nostalgia, and the elements of our childhood and teen years that we miss; how we are all longing for elements of yesteryear during a time where we are all clinging to each other for hope and a little bit of joy.We, of course, did some name dropping of great haunts in Los Angeles, and here's how to find them on socials.@villastacoslosangeles@chicagotheband@itsmrcross@hollywoodbowl@bennyboybrewing@aviatornation@aviatornationdreamland@ozomatli@davidkisrael@lanenacantina@masvinoplease@maiden_mexico@sadgirlcreameryThank you for listening and remember, when it comes to style, it's ALL adjacent.Love, RandiCo-Host/Co-Creative Producer/Technician-Frank RiveraAudio Editing-Randi RiveraIntro/Outro Music-Derrick "Lord Monsta" Neal
