Las Vegas startups just got a 175-acre reminder of who else is bidding for this valley's power.Switch has filed plans with North Las Vegas for Core 2.0: phase one is 175.8 acres across 14 parcels in the Apex Industrial Park, 486,250 square feet, two data centers, plus its own substation and switching station. Filed in August; the city still has not scheduled it for Planning Commission or City Council — so the land-and-power fight every Southern Nevada founder builds inside gets argued in public on a date nobody set.The number nobody had put on Zero Labs: nine cohorts, 145 companies, 200-plus founders through a free, no-equity, three-day Las Vegas startup accelerator with UNLV Economic Development and GOED. Not a program — startup ecosystem infrastructure. What Las Vegas startups can act on now:Zero Labs 2027 Innovation Launchpad — applications open. Ten-minute application, free, no equity, keep your IP. Tracks: gaming, sports, hospitality, emerging tech.Pitch4Capital Las Vegas Funding Day — Oct 22, Mint Meeting Spaces, 3160 S Valley View Blvd. Approval-gated; cost not published.More startup trends on the calendar: Pitch Kung Fu at Fusion42 Thursdays, Web3 Wednesdays Oct 7, CryptoMondays Mondays, Vegas Founders Night, and LV Robotics Oct 15. Las Vegas startups don't usually begin with prehistoric shark teeth. Odditt did.Matt Bresler spent seven years reselling fossils on eBay, left Tufts at 21, and used that money to bootstrap a sportsbook software company - now generating 100,000+ contextualized bets and parlays a day across 115 leagues.
