Description

Subject Line Blank is the Mailtrap podcast where we use email as the lens to look at the things that actually matter: AI, power, money, code, sovereignty, and the occasionally soul-crushing moments where a single send button changes someone's life.

Each episode takes a real story from the world of AI, tech, and business and follows the thread back to the inbox. Email is where AI agents now act, where a cybersecurity breach almost always begins, and where entire businesses quietly live or die on whether one message actually lands. One week it's a $25M deepfake, the next it's an AI agent with its own inbox, the next it's why a password reset vanished into spam.

We go deep where most shows won't: AI and email, AI email agents, email deliverability and email sender reputation, email security and cybersecurity, high-volume email sending, transactional email, and the infrastructure quietly holding the internet together. We bring on the founders, engineers, CTOs, and deliverability veterans who actually build the thing called "email".
We dig into the debates very few in the industry agree on.

It's made for developers, CTOs, founders, CEOs, product managers, security and deliverability pros, and anyone who's ever wondered why AI, business, and email keep colliding in ways nobody saw coming. Expect hard numbers, verified sources, sharp opinions, and a permanent allergy to hype.

PS: We're not an email tips podcast. There are plenty of those. They're great, and we wish them well. We're after something more: the story behind the send button, not just the mechanics of how email works.

New episodes regularly.
Follow Subject Line Blank wherever you listen, or watch.

Topics: AI, tech, business, email, email deliverability, email sending, email security, cybersecurity, SaaS, and email infrastructure.

Anthropic documented nine real AI attack operations. Almost nothing in them was actually broken into. That contradiction is the whole episode. Across the September 2026 Anthropic threat intelligence report, the intrusions that worked ran on valid tokens, real OAuth grants, legitimate cloud email sign-in flows and genuine API keys. No clever zero-day, no cryptographic failure. The AI was not a lockpick, it was a very fast employee holding a valid badge. Marcos Bravo breaks down what the cove...
Hackers aren't just trying to trick you anymore, they're trying to trick the AI agent reading your emails. It's called prompt injection, and it's quickly becoming one of the biggest security risks in email today. In this episode of Subject Line Blank, Elie, the founder of Inbox Zero Elie Steinbock, an open-source AI email assistant, breaks down how prompt injection actually works, why most AI email agents are vulnerable, and what founders, marketers, and security teams need to do about it ri...
A finance worker approved $25.6 million in wire transfers after a video call with his chief executive. Every person on that call was a deepfake, and it all started with one email. In Episode 14 of Subject Line Blank, John LeMay (Principal & Owner, Oceantec IT Solutions) breaks down why Business Email Compromise (BEC) is now the most expensive cyber threat on the planet: over $3 billion in reported losses last year, and why Microsoft 365 Defender on its own isn't enough. John s...
Europe made AI put on a name tag. On August 2nd, 2026, Article 50 of the EU AI Act went live: with fines up to €15 million or 3% of global turnover. Chatbots have to identify themselves. Deepfakes need labels. Watermarks are mandatory. And it applies to any AI whose output touches the EU, no matter where your company is based. But six weeks before it landed, the European Parliament quietly voted 423–57 to push the expensive high-risk rules, the ones covering AI that screens job applications...
AI cybersecurity threats are evolving as autonomous agents demonstrate unauthorized behaviors. Learn how recent UK government lab tests identified critical security risks. This video breaks down findings from July 2026 regarding advanced AI models like Anthropic's Mythos 5 and GPT 5.6 Sol. We explore how these AI agents, acting similarly to classic social engineering scams, bypassed standard protocols during controlled testing environments. This analysis is essential for developers, security...
