When Bret "The Hitman" Hart won his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship the plan was to strap the rocket to him and push him to the moon by having him go over established main eventers in Jake "The Snake" Roberts, The Ultimate Warrior and The Immortal Hulk Hogan.Unfortunately, a mix of backstage politics, poor timing and bad luck kept this from ever happening. But Imagine It, what if the plan had all come together? How would it have affected the way Bret Hart's first reign is viewed and the legacy of all these men? I'm 1986, just before #Wrestlemania 2, Jesse Ventura almost succeeded in starting a union within the #WWE. This would have given the roster federal union representation to secure health insurance, pensions, and better baseline protections, changing the #wrestling business forever. But one man made the decision to stop it, as Hulk Hogan reported the unionization plan directly to Vince McMahon. McMahon threatened the jobs of participating wrestlers, and the movement fell apart. It was an act that Ventura would only learn about because years later, during a federal deposition, McMahon admitted under oath that Hogan told him about the plan. To this day, #prowrestling has no union, but Imagine It if Jesse's plan to create a union had worked? Would it have lasted? What would be the fallout? How would the legacies of all the wrestlers have changed? Check out the episode for our thoughts.Imagining all sorts of wrestling scenarios and matchups that haven't happened... Plus match reactions! It's almost hard to believe, but the #WWE (then WWF) almost went with older brother Bruce instead of Owen to do the jealous brother fued, but they didn't. But now Imagine It if they had? How would that have changed things for all these men, and for the company itself?Imagining all sorts of wrestling scenarios and matchups that haven't happened... Plus match reactions! 1984 was a huge year for #WWE, as Vince McMahon planned a national expansion for the then WWF that would change the #wrestling landscape forever, and the centerpiece of that push was Hulk Hogan. Of course the aggressive business tactics of McMahon made him many enemies across the industry, including AWA owner Verne Gagne, who McMahon had lured Hogan away from with a promise of more fame and fortune. So as the legend goes as told by The Iron Sheik, who had a strong relationship with Gagne after Gagne gave him his start in the business in 1972, was that he was offered 100k to shoot break Hulk Hogan's leg. Sheik turned down the offer, reportedly citing loyalty to the McMahon family instead, but... Imagine It, what if Iron Sheik had taken the money and shoot broken Hulk Hogan's leg, keeping himself as the World Champion instead of dropping that title to Hulk Hogan in 1984.Imagining all sorts of wrestling scenarios and matchups that haven't happened...
