Description
This podcast is dedicated to the study of the magnificent book of Orchos Tzaddikim [Ways of the Righteous], the teaching of classic Jewish Mussar (ethical) work with a practical path to becoming a true righteous person. Its core message is simple: true righteousness is not achieved through knowledge alone, but through constant, deliberate refinement of one’s personal character traits (Middot).
This book, written anonymously, systematically guides us through dozens of “gates” (chapters), each focusing on a specific trait — such as arrogance, humility, anger, jealousy, truth, speech, repentance, and many others. The overarching idea is that a person must actively work on themselves in every area of character. Only through this ongoing inner work does one become a genuine servant of God, capable of living with integrity, closeness to Hashem, and moral excellence.
In short this book helps us become righteous by mastering our character, one trait at a time.

Could your own success become your downfall? We traverse the treacherous landscape of arrogance in our latest episode, guided by the timeless wisdom of the Orchos Tzaddikim. The ancient texts of Deuteronomy and Psalms shine a light on this insidious trait, revealing how the illusion of self-made triumph can sever our connection with the Divine. With my great uncle, Reb Chaim Kreiswerth's life as a poignant example, we share how the fickleness of fortune serves as a stark reminder that our gifts are borrowed, not owned. This narrative is a somber meditation on the subtlety of pride and the necessity of humility in recognizing our true Source of strength and wisdom.Embrace the virtue of humility as we scrutinize the everyday manifestations of pride that can slip unnoticed into our lives. From the way one carries oneself to the subtle responses we give to those around us, every action is a reflection of our inner state. Reb Hanina ben Tradion's daughter's story becomes a beacon, emphasizing the need for modest living and the duty of Jewish people to represent divine values. As we wrap up day 10 in our journey through the Orchos Tzaddikim, the path ahead is clear—day 11 beckons us to further refine our character, stripping away the layers of arrogance to reveal the graceful humility within._____________Recorded in the TORCH Centre - Studio D in Passaic, NJ on April 28, 2024.Released as Podcast on April 28, 2024_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (by Feldheim Publishers)ISBN: 978-168025-256-9_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share:Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mussar-study-ways-of-the-righteous-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id6811983384Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4zGXDZmDRdr6LCXTzFa8dRShare your questions at [email protected] or visit torchweb.org for more Torah content. _____________About the Host:Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe, Director of TORCH in Houston, brings decades of Torah scholarship to guide listeners in applying Jewish wisdom to daily life. As we advance in our discussion, we seek divine assistance in understanding and overcoming arrogance, setting the stage for a journey towards personal growth and spiritual enlightenment._____________Recorded in the TORCH Centre - Studio D in Passaic, NJ on April 28, 2024.Released as Podcast on April 28, 2024_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (by Feldheim Publishers)ISBN: 978-168025-256-9_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share:Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mussar-study-ways-of-the-righteous-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id6811983384Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4zGXDZmDRdr6LCXTzFa8dRShare your questions at [email protected] or visit torchweb.org for more Torah content. _____________About the Host:Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe, Director of TORCH in Houston, brings decades of Torah scholarship to guide listeners in applying Jewish wisdom to daily life.
