Empowering the Fourth Quarter: Conversations with ElaineDiscovering purpose and possibilities in life's later stages. All right, everybody, welcome back to the show! Today, Tim Holloway sits down with the inspiring Elaine, a woman who turned a moment of restlessness into a thriving podcast journey and a mission to empower seniors.Finding More in LifeElaine’s story began in the Dallas Fort Worth area, where she transitioned from a successful business career to exploring the world of podcasting. In her own words, she reflected on that moment of realization:  "There’s gotta be more. You know, I think that's a common thing. More. What is more?"This curiosity led her to a networking event where she met a fellow podcaster who would help her navigate the podcasting waters. The Entrepreneurial SpiritElaine's entrepreneurial journey is rooted in her past experiences. After selling a company she co-owned with her ex-husband, she ventured into the insurance industry, specializing in life and health insurance. Her passion for helping others shines through:"I just want people to get what they're technically due."She also has a niche focus on life settlements, offering financial solutions for seniors that many aren’t aware of. Elaine emphasizes the importance of awareness:  "Too often people have a term policy, they let it lapse, they get zero."Networking and Community FocusElaine shares how she actively engages with her community and client base through networking groups, focusing on seniors. She attends around ten events a month, showcasing her commitment to serving this demographic.  "I go to a lot of networking groups... it’s a very active senior marketing group."This grassroots approach helps her connect with those who might benefit from her services, especially given the unique financial challenges seniors face.Podcasting with PurposeElaine's podcast aims to reach women aged 65 and older, promoting themes of encouragement and empowerment. She describes her mission:"To encourage, empower, enlighten, and enhance."By addressing the challenges and opportunities of the so-called fourth quarter of life, she inspires her listeners to embrace new possibilities.A Shift in PerspectiveElaine's journey also highlights the importance of pacing oneself in business and podcasting. She wisely decided to let her podcast grow organically rather than rushing to monetize it:"I said Elaine, don't try to monetize right now.  Explore Jeff Pitts' journey from broadcasting to ministry and podcasting.Reflecting on a journey that intertwines faith and creativity, Jeff Pitts shares his unique path from aspiring sports broadcaster to dedicated minister and podcaster. The Unexpected Call to MinistryJeff's story isn't one of a straightforward calling; in fact, it started with resistance. Growing up in central Illinois, he initially pursued a career in broadcast journalism. However, a chance conversation in his mother's hair salon sparked a shift.  "You have such a great voice. Have you ever thought about being a minister?"— An older lady’s words that Jeff can’t forget.  Despite his initial reluctance, this moment ignited a journey that would lead him to ministry after a life-changing experience at the age of 14. While swimming in Lake Michigan, he found himself struggling against the current, praying for salvation. Miraculously, he was rescued, leading him to feel a profound sense of obligation to pursue his calling. The Podcasting LoopInterestingly, Jeff's journey with podcasting began at Illinois State, where he studied broadcast journalism. He recalls the surreal feeling of returning to the microphone after years away from it.  "This is such a full circle moment that God brought this back to life."  Podcasting became a new medium for Jeff to express his faith and connect with others, bridging his past aspirations with his present calling.Youth Ministry: The Learning CurveTransitioning into youth ministry presented its own set of challenges. Jeff admits he wasn't the typical 'fun' youth pastor; instead, he gravitated towards prayer meetings over games, a choice that made him feel out of sync with the expectations of his role.  "I was a terrible youth pastor... But it was the call of God. It was what I was built to do."  This candid reflection encapsulates the struggle many face in aligning their gifts with their roles. A Constant PullEven today, Jeff finds himself navigating the complexities of ministry and podcasting, constantly drawn back to his calling despite the challenges.  "I've tried to do something else, but the knock comes back and the word's like, 'That's not what I built you to do.'"  This ongoing dialogue with God illustrates the commitment to his purpose, reminding us that our paths may be winding, but they often lead us back to our true calling. In exploring Jeff Pitts' journey, we see the beauty of finding purpose in unexpected places. His experiences reflect a story of resilience, faith, and the ongoing search for meaning in our lives. For a deeper dive into Jeff’s story, be sure to listen to the full episode.
