112 - Vostroyan Firstborn

2024-10-2302:26:20

The Vostroyan Firstborn are a proud and fiercely loyal regiment of the Astra Militarum, hailing from the industrial world of Vostroya. Their history is steeped in honor and penitence, as their ancestors once refused to aid the Emperor during the Horus Heresy. In atonement, each firstborn son of Vostroya is conscripted into the Imperial Guard, sworn to fight and die in the Emperor's name. Clad in ornate, archaic uniforms and wielding weapons crafted in the forges of their homeworld, the Firstborn are renowned for their discipline, resilience, and unyielding devotion to reclaiming their family's honor on the battlefield.https://linktr.ee/Lorehammer40khttps://www.spreaker.com/podcast/lorehammer-a-warhammer-40k-podcast--6375345/support

**DISCLAIMER**TAU ARE NOT COMMUNISTSThe Tau are not communists. They're the exact opposite of communists.Communism believes in:The dictatorship of the proletariatThe abolishing of all class and caste systemsThe right and necessity of the working class to control the means of productionThe abolishing of private property and the holding of all things in the common good. (NOT the "greater good", that's Utilitarian garbage that means something very different)An actual communist would hate the Tau. The Tau are Plato's Republic. They're rigid, ultra-hierarchical technocrats where a tiny elite caste (the Ethereals) own and control everything .An actual communist would want to:Abolish the Caste systemKill the Ethereals (The Ethereals are like the pure embodiment of everything Marx hated about western capitalism and oligarchies, the wise philosopher-kings who believe they have the right to control everyone else's lives)Distribute means of production and defense (including technology and weapons) among the different members of the former castesEstablish some kind of state council so that things like food and education could be centrally managed and given out to those in need. (Pretty much the exact opposite of what the Tau would want to do).People who call the Tau "space communists" are either totally ignorant, or they're deliberately playing into the somewhat racist stereotypes of Asian people that the Tau embody. Don't do that. But also have fun.*Please refer to Episode 29 for further insight on the above.********************************************************************Welcome back to Lorehammer, where we explore the bright future of the Warhammer 40K universe. Today, we're shedding light on the Kor'vattra, the dynamic and visionary space navy of the T'au Empire. The Kor'vattra isn't just a fleet; it's the embodiment of the T'au's hope for a unified galaxy, where cooperation and progress reign supreme. Designed with cutting-edge technology and guided by the principles of the Greater Good, this fleet is a marvel of efficiency and precision. From its powerful Lar'Shi class cruisers to the nimble battlesuits that dance through the void, the Kor'vattra is a testament to the T'au's belief that a better future can be built, one carefully planned step at a time. As they venture into the stars, the Kor'vattra carries with it the optimism of a people who see endless possibilities in the cosmos, always striving to bring their vision of peace and prosperity to every corner of the galaxy. If you want to get involved with our Livestream, Discord, Patreon, or merchandise, click the link below!https://linktr.ee/Lorehammer40kSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/lorehammer-a-warhammer-40k-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/lorehammer-a-warhammer-40k-podcast--6375345/support.
In the lightless abyss of Commorragh, The City of Terror in the heart of the Webway, where shadows feed on despair and cruelty is a currency, one figure reigns supreme—the master of malevolence, Asdrubael Vect. He is not merely the lord of the Kabal of the Black Heart; he is the architect of agony, the undisputed tyrant of Commorragh, and by extension, the Dark Eldar race itself. Join Mark, Christian, James, and Jordan (who has finally been released from the basement) for an episode you won't want to miss!40 Hours of 40K Tickets: https://shorturl.at/36K1R40 Hours of 40k Information: https://shorturl.at/lHO5gIf you want to get involved with our Livestream, Discord, Patreon, or merchandise, click the link below!https://linktr.ee/Lorehammer40kSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/lorehammer-a-warhammer-40k-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/lorehammer-a-warhammer-40k-podcast--6375345/support.

103 - Old Terra

103 - Old Terra

2024-07-1602:42:55

In the ages of Old Terra, spanning millennia since the darkness of the Age of Strife, the Emperor reigns from His once-glorious throne amidst the shattered remnants of a once-vast world. He commands not just the fealty of countless souls through the ancient rites of techno-barbarism, but also the allegiance of myriad clans and city-states that sprawl across the ravaged continents. His dominion extends over a world scarred by the horrors of nuclear cataclysm and the ceaseless wars that followed.Yet, even in His embattled state, the Emperor maintains His vigilance. His enigmatic powers pierce through the shifting tempests of the Ether, guiding the warp-tinged fleets that navigate the treacherous expanses between terrestrial domains. Armies march in His name across the ruins of forgotten civilizations, defending against the myriad threats that beset His realm. Foremost among His champions are the techno-barbarian lords, augmented with ancient sciences and clad in armor forged from the bones of extinct titans. Their ranks are bolstered by devoted adherents: the warrior tribes of the steppes, the iron-forged legions of the smiths, and the secretive cabals that wield the forbidden sorceries of the Ancients. To be a leader in these tumultuous times is to command amidst untold tribulations. It is to govern amidst the harsh and blood-soaked customs of a world in constant strife. These are the chronicles of an epoch forged in the fires of an abandoned age. Remember not the allure of lost technologies and arcane sciences, for they are now naught but myth. Forsake the aspirations of progress and enlightenment, for in the grim and savage history of Old Terra, there exists only the ceaseless clash of arms. Amidst the echoing void, there is no respite, only an eternity of conflict and the whispered machinations of the undying spirits.

I have to disagree that it is necessary to start with a small self-contained, or at least self-explanatory, story to get into WH40k. Myself, I started with a premise - fantasy world in space, except everything is different! - and from there dived into each aspect to see how the WH40K version differed. I think the first aspect I dived into was the Warp because "how does magic work?" is always a question on my mind. That might not work for everyone. It might be specifically for me because I attach more to lore than to characters, but I suspect I am not special.

New to the hobby. Found this to help increase my lore knowledge. Still early in the series and plan on seeing it through. That being said, the amount of diversions and interruptions created by Erik to make points that do not serve the narrative or the discussion, but seem to only serve his ego are driving me crazy. Please tell me it gets better in the later episodes. These episodes would flow so much better and be 30-40 minutes shorter without these pointless tangential arguments.

Used to play 40k in the 90s as a teenager, then lost touch with it until recently and was intested in how the game and the lore had changed over the years. So this podcast is everything I need in learning and re learning the fascinating universe of Warhammer. These guys do a great job of explaining everything in detail while keeping it interesting
