Should Social Media Platforms Come with a Mental Health Warning Label, particularly for today's youth?  Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, in recent weeks, has said that the threat social media poses to children requires urgent action, and has suggested that Congress act to put a label on the apps as it does with cigarettes and alcohol. “The mental health crisis among young people is an emergency — and social media has emerged as an important contributor,” Murthy said in an op-ed in the New York Times. In this episode, Margo & Tashira discuss their experiences with the intersection of social media and public health, with both drawing from their personal experiences with young people who are navigating the world of social media today. Margo and Tashira discuss the paradox of being "too much" in a number of ways seemingly exclusive to women & femmes. Society tells us that we need to be pretty (but we can't be too focused on our appearance), we need to be smart (but not too smart), we need to be good parents, but if we put "too much" effort into them then we're "too involved."
