How does a person manage excess resources? To what extent do we resemble the simplest living systems in our (ir)rationality? All fluctuates — lives — sounds — glows. This interpretation of glow has inspired the Episode 19 of FM Module. Back in the early 19th century, far ahead of its time, the idea of all-encompassing living energy was expressed by German romanticist and physicist Johann Wilhelm Ritter. At the cost of self-destructive experiments, by applying an electric current to his own body, he concluded that thought and hearing had one electrochemical nature, calling it “the highest form of reality”. The reality turned out to be even more exciting. The world that constantly vibrates with particles and waves, a shining cluster of energy, with the birth of galaxies and moments of erotic ecstasy, is hymned in the new Module. Episode 18 of FM Module focuses on skin, or on sensitivity to be exact. Or, to be as precise as possible, it focuses on the boundaries of our consciousness. The organic shell which divides us from the world and also connects us to it is apparently a display of the discrete nature of existence. The transitional phase from the external to the internal, from an object to its projections, from the personal to the environmental (and vice versa) has always given food for thought to philosophers — from Empedocles to Simondon. Yet can we identify that phase and its boundaries? Even if consciousness is born from the touch to the world, that link easily twists into a loop of endless reflections. Freedom is just another name of the point of no return. Or is it? Where does freedom come from, and why does one need it? Free will emerges from the moment of uncertainty, the gap between the past and the future. You can open up a depth of opportunities and gain everything there is to — all through defying the dominant “I”. The hour-long synth sound tapestry is an ascetic ambient journey which switches one’s perception to digital meditation mode — or, at least, helps to focus on the crucial things.
