While we touch on Steve's story and professional and personal journey, we dig quickly into the science and the research in this one. Topics we cover in this episode include why joint mobility is important, how to strength train and load weight correctly, and why the training for MMA fighters is a good compass for the rest of us. I could talk to Steve all day about these issues and know you'll enjoy!
Kelly's Inner Steel journey began with a heartbreaking loss at a young age that changed her life forever.  She speaks openly about this moment and how it gave her a clear compass personally and professionally. From these roots we learn about how Kelly followed her heart and listened to her village as she slowly and organically grew her family and business over the past 25 years. Now a mom of 4 beautiful children and owner of a 400-member Boot Camp and Fitness Facility, Kelly is a stunning example for all of us that mission means everything, slow and steady is powerful, family is first, and community is our foundation. You can find Kelly and join her community in person or virtually at https://kellysbootcamp.net/!!Follow Kelly and her team and community on instagram @kellys_bootcamp!!
Greg Parsons is the founder of Semper Capital Management as well as the non-profit organization, True North, supporting Veterans with jobs, training, medical care, and other services. This is an extremely special day because for this episode I had the opportunity to interview my brother, Clayton Apgar and his business partner, Billy Clark. They are recent bestselling authors of the book, The Little Book to Land Your Dream Job. When Clayton and Billy reveal that you'll spend more than 90,000 hours of your life working, you realize that your professional life is extremely personal! And yet our world has been overcome by impersonal job seeking platforms like Indeed, Monster.com and LinkedIn, that don't foster your deep consideration of the attributes and interests that define you, and should be central to your daily work and life.  In their effort to bring the 'personal' back to 'professional', Clayton and Billy have reframed the whole process of finding a job and  discovering a fulfilling career. Their reframe is breaking norms in much the same way we are at FitFighter, where we are helping you reframe what it means to be strong.Clayton and Billy actively promote turning inward to develop something outward, and as you listen to this episode, you will find that their little book is full of big ideas! You can follow them at : Billy Clark Creative ManagementLinkedIn: Billy Clark Creative ManagementFB:  @BillyClarkCMIG: @BillyClarkCreativeAnd their book The Little Book to Land Your Dream Job is available on Amazon.
Dick's Sporting Goods is a leader in giving youth access to sports. My guest today, Melissa Christian, is their Vice President of Global Brand and Category Marketing, and she is particularly passionate about helping and supporting young female athletes. As we talk, she describes her research that shows that by the age of 14, girls drop out of sports at two times the rate of boys. To change that trajectory, Dick's is currently undertaking many initiatives to support female athletes and help them succeed. Following the mantra that "you need to see her to be her," Dick's has committed to removing many of the barriers that prevent women from participating in sports.  Sport transcends age, race, political views, gender, and it opens the doors to opportunities in our lives. In this arena, Dick's Sporting Goods is leading from the front!Tune in to hear more!
