Description

If you are a coder or if you are new to coding or just interested in finding out what it is all about, this is the place for you. Join our lighthearted team to learn some useful nuggets about what coding is all about.

Our goal is to foster a public interest in computer coding. This is not necessarily a technical podcast. It's a little techy. It is more of a walk through and about coding. We hope to touch on the daily life impact of code. How has it changed or lives, and how will it change our lives in the future. What is it? How is it used? How do kids learn it? How can you learn it? What can you do with it?

Have you ever wondered how computers make decisions? What is the process behind that? Well there is a long history of logic behind all of that decision making. In this episode we take a short walk down ancient history to the origins of logic and the cascading affects into the 19th and 20th centuries. We take a close look at Boolean Algebra and the utilization of the values True and False. We learn what a predicate is and how the operators AND, OR and NOT are used to elicit final results. And we wrap it all up with a short spot on Fuzzy Logic.

In this episode we explore the many programming languages that are out there. Who knew that there were more than 700 computer programming languages. Some sites say that there are as many as 8,900 computer programming languages. So, we take a look at a handful of programming language. We try to figure out where do they come from and what are they used for. We take a dive into compilers and interpreters, or at least the difference between the two. We also wade in the waters of Python and Scratch. What are their pros and cons. This episode is not too technical, but there are some valuable nuggets to glean from the episode. Join Bob (the Geek) and Charlotte (the Pixie) as they try to "Name that Language".

Welcome to the world of coding. We are here to help you understand what coding is all about. This is a great show for someone new to coding (computer programming). We talk about the basic principles of computers and programming. We also try to have a little bit of fun along the way. The first thing most programmers learn is to program "Hello, world!". We talk about the origins of this tradition. We also explore the meaning of re-boot, boot and boot strapping. Join us to learn a little bit about computers, processors, operating systems, programmable code, and machine code. Join husband and wife team Bob (the geek) and Charlotte (the pixie) to explore the fun and interesting world of coding. Join and listen as the vivacious pixie tries to trip up her husband the geek.
