TV critic and host Mekeisha Madden Toby pays tribute to filmmaker John Singleton, who died April 28. He was 51 years old. Madden Toby interviewed the father of six just before his BET drama "Rebel" premiered two years ago and "Snowfall" on FX, both of which Singleton wrote and created. "Rebel" has since been canceled but "Snowfall" is returning for its third season later this year. The saddest part is when she asked him what was next and Singleton said he had "more to do." Don't miss this now touching but tragic exchange.

Broadcast journalism veteran Gayle King said she isn't tired of talking about her headline grabbing interview with R. Kelly. And that's a good thing because neither are we. The two even discussed Michael Jackson and what the molestation allegations against him mean for the culture.
Netflix's new real estate reality offering "Selling Sunset" hasn't been around for a long time. But the show is already garnering an impressive and passionate audience domestically and overseas -- especially on social media.  This is due in large part to the oversized personalities of its leading ladies, six beautiful and brilliant real estate agents, who work hard and sometimes bump heads. Joining host Mekeisha Madden Toby to talk about fan reactions, bullying, gender bias and more are stars Christine Quinn and Davina Potratz. "Selling Sunset" is now streaming.
It’s January, which means we've hit the midway point in the 2018-2019 television season. Some things have been canceled already – i.e., "Luke Cage" and "Good Behavior" – and some shows turned out to be unexpected treats – including "Kidding" on Showtime and Netflix's "The Haunting of Hill House."   Meanwhile, new offerings such as "True Detective" season three and "Deadly Class" on SyFy are catching our eye.     Mekeisha wades through what we saw in 2018 and what we want to see in 2019, with special guest Christina Radish. A show and listener favorite, Radish is a staff writer at Collider and covers an insane amount of television and movies.
For Your Consideration or FYC season can be so stressful for TV critics. Desite their best intentions, there is always a show or an actor that slips the mind. Sometimes, as is the case with "Westworld" season two, shows premiere too late for consideration.    Here to talk about this and more with podcast host Mekeisha Madden Toby is Collider.com staff writer Christina Radish. Don't miss these two TV nerds as they comically agonize over all things FYC just as nominations for the Emmys, TCA Awards and other ceremonies kick off.

But you can still find the installments OnDemand and in reruns featuring a bevy of stand-up comedians and special guests such as Jon Stewart, Uzo Aduba, Tituss Burgess and Sarah Jessica Parker.    Don't miss this fun and enlightening interview.
Podcast host Mekeisha Madden Toby caught up with comedic genius Jerrod Carmichael just before the start of season three. NBC canceled the show when Carmichael quit due to creative differences. BUT here's hoping he finds another outlet for his talent (we're talking to you, HBO) because season three was just as fun and fearless as the previous seasons if not moreso.

The two also talk about "The Walking Dead" and their 2016 Top 10/best-of-TV considerations. Don't miss this delightfully edifying exchange.

Fall TV is fast approaching and with dozens of shows to choose from, it can be hard to decide what to watch and what to skip.  TV critic and podcast host Mekeisha Madden Toby chats up her brilliant sister-in-law, Tasha Akitobi, on some of the best television offerings this season including "Atlanta" on FX and "Queen Sugar" on OWN. Both shows debut Tuesday Sept. 6. There are also groan-worthy offerings such as "Bull" on CBS. It premieres Sept. 20 and as the title implies, it is some real bull-ish. Poor Michael Weatherly. He deserves so much more. The two also talk about "The Good Place," "This Is Us" and "Timeless" on NBC and "Insecure" on HBO.  Akitobi, is a friend to the show, a returning guest and a working wife and mom who makes the time to watch an impressive amount of TV. Together, the two also discuss hot-topic issues such as diversity, subjective journalism, and sexual violence against women on the small screen. At the end of the chat, the pair even grapple with the controversy surrounding the upcoming film "Birth of Nation" and whether or not it is possible to support the movie without supporting Nate Parker, the filmmaker behind the film. In case you haven't paid attention, Parker is embroiled in the fallout from a messy rape allegation from his past. Don't miss this candid and often comical discussion.
Michael Hyatt is a brilliant and versatile actress.
