Each episode of this podcast introduces a standout piece of music and covers all the need-to-know info: how the music was created, what to listen for, and why classical music is relevant to your everyday life. Do we provide scholarly insights and use fancy lingo? Not so much. We’re more about having a good time and helping you discover what the f is classical music.

Johannes Brahms was an anxious fellow. So anxious, it took him 21 years to debut his first symphony. The beauty of his Third Symphony, however, is not just its mesmerizing sounds but the vulnerable glimpse Brahms’ gives us of his inner world. Throughout this symphony, Brahms expresses his most personal passions and struggles, which somehow also provides an opportunity for us to look deeper into ourselves. Enjoy some of the most beautiful music you will ever hear, as well as proof that knowing yourself is a magical thing.
Our first episode dives into the world of classical music by introducing the must-know composer Gustav Mahler. The main thing we love about Mahler is his commitment to going big, and when we say big, we mean his colossal works of music in size, sound, and emotion. Mahler once said, "A symphony should be like the world. It must contain everything." While his First Symphony certainly contains a heck of a lot, we love this piece because it not only broadens perceptions of what classical music is, it also provides a big ol’ dose of catharsis.
