Description

Alabama Republicans pass the most extreme abortion ban in history, John Bolton tries to start a war with Iran, and Montana Governor Steve Bullock and New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio round out the 23-candidate field for the Democratic nomination. Then New York Attorney General Letitia James joins Tommy, Jon, Jon, Dan, and Akilah Hughes on stage at Kings Theater in Brooklyn.

Audio note: At 13:01, Jon Favreau's microphone temporarily cuts out in the discussion about the Alabama abortion law. For clarity, here is his question to Akilah: "What can people do in the meantime starting now to protect access to abortion and to fight back?"

am I crazy? I hear on this podcast constant praise for Elizabeth Warren but Bernie Sanders was saying pretty much everything she's been saying first AND has plans on his website! so, what gives? Granted they mention Bernie too but they never give him the nod

It kills me when you acknowledge the extremist anti-abortionists language by saying things like "pro-life". Don't allow their language to skew the discussion. Don't give their narrative any legitimacy. their position is NOT pro-life. It's anti women, it's anti progressiveness, it's forcing women to live with the consequences of men who don't respect a no is a no, it's forcing children who are being abused living with the consequences of rapist.

Meeae Dienemann I feel u on the sentiment 100% but psa is by progressives for progressives, I dont think their use of a completely colloquialized term for people in favor of restricting abortions has any effect of the narrative at this point in the conversation. a huge portion of the episode is devoted to explaining how these restrictions are a tremendous breach of common freedom safety and privacy and treat women like they shouldnt have a say on what happens to their bodies, treats them like theyre not even citizens with rights, and they dont give an inch on that front.

Meeae Dienemann I feel the same when they call it a "heartbeat" bill. There is no heartbeat st 6 wks because there isn't yet a heart. It's just electrical impulses in a cluster of cells.
