"In the case of really being witness to what this egg becomes, you can actually take that leaf off and put it in a container that has a lot of moisture with a bunch of other leaves, leaves of the same kind, and you can watch that egg become a very small caterpillar. And then that caterpillar grows and grows over a week period, maybe 10 days maximum, and it's ready to change. And then when it changes, it hangs on this little thread and becomes a cocoon."
