SAVING NATURE'S MYSTERY MERMAID
Dugongs are what are sometimes called mystery mermaid because of their mermaid-like features. These marine mammals oftentimes get entangled in fishing gear including fish traps and seaweed aquaculture lines which in turn threatens to reduce their population further. We need to make an effort to help this species survive!
Join us as our experience partner Yna, Rey and Muammar share with us their mission to save our beloved mermaids or dugongs.
C3 Philippines was established in the Calamianes islands in 2011, focusing on the conservation of the endangered dugong. Using its hugely successful environmental stewardship model, C3 has launched successful enterprises linked to dugong conservation, which generate an income and deliver capacity building for employment for women, LGBT, and unemployed youth.
