Hello friends!
Быва́ют ли у вас дни, когда́ всё ва́лится из рук? И́ли когда́ душа́ ни к чему́ не лежи́т? И́ли когда́ за что ни возьми́сь и куда́ ни глянь, всё не сла́ва бо́гу?
Do you have days when everything falls out of your hands? Or when your soul does not lie toward anything? Or when whatever you take and wherever you look, is all not “thanks God”?

You don’t quite understand which days I’m talking about? Let me explain to you…
– Всё ва́лится из рук:
– Everything falls out of hands:
Так мы говори́м, когда́ кто-то пребыва́ет в рассе́янном и́ли пода́вленном состоя́нии ду́ха. В э́том состоя́нии челове́к не мо́жет ни на чём сосредото́читься, у него́ ничего́ не ла́дится. Наприме́р:
So we say when someone is in an absent-minded or depressed state. In this state, a person cannot concentrate on anything, nothing is going well for him. For instance:
С тех пор, как де́ти уе́хали, у неё всё ва́лится из рук.
Ever since the children left, everything falls out of her hands.
– Душа́ не лежи́т:
– Soul does not lie:
Мы испо́льзуем э́ту фра́зу, что́бы сказа́ть, что кто-то не располо́жен де́лать что́-то. Обы́чно мы говори́м душа́ не лежи́т к чему́-то и́ли де́лать что́-то, наприме́р:
We use this phrase to say that someone is not inclined to do something. Usually we say “the soul does not lie toward something or do something”, for example:
Из университе́та он ушёл, так как по́нял, что к нау́кам у него́ душа́ не лежи́т.
He left the university, because he realized that his soul does not lie toward the sciences.
Что́-то у меня́ сего́дня душа́ не лежи́т убира́ться, отложу́ убо́рку до за́втра.
Somehow my soul doesn’t lie toward cleaning today, I will postpone the cleaning until tomorrow.
– Всё не сла́ва бо́гу:
– Everything is not “thanks God”:
Мы говори́м сла́ва бо́гу, когда́ слы́шим хоро́шие но́вости и́ли когда́ у нас что́-то получа́ется. Не сла́ва бо́гу зна́чит пря́мо противополо́жное. Когда́ всё вокру́г не ла́дится, и плохи́е но́вости настига́ют нас одна́ за одно́й, мы говори́м всё не сла́ва бо́гу.
We say “thanks God” when we hear good news or succed in something. “Not thanks God” means the exact opposite. When everything around does not go well and bad news follow us one by one, we say that “everything is not thanks God”.
А е́сли кто-то всё вре́мя чем-то недово́лен, мы мо́жем сказа́ть, что у э́того челове́ка всё не сла́ва бо́гу, наприме́р:
And if someone is always dissatisfied with something, we can say that this person has “everything not thanks God” (never happy), for example:
Всё-то у тебя́ не сла́ва бо́гу!
You are never happy (never thankful to God)!
А тепе́рь, когда́ вы понима́ете смысл выраже́ний из нача́ла подскаста, позво́льте мне вам пожела́ть, что́бы дней, когда́ всё ва́лится из рук и душа́ не лежи́т, у вас никогда́ не́ было. Что́бы преоблада́л в ва́шей душе́ оптими́зм и благода́рность (бо́гу и́ли про́сто судьбе́).
