He encourages other villagers to pile soil onto the door to prevent the floodwater from causing further damage. Ananta's body becomes buried under the soil as a result of his sacrifice, but his selflessness and dedication to the welfare of the village earn him great respect and admiration. The story is considered a rare example of a character transformation in Odia short story genre, with Ananta going from a troublemaker to a selfless hero.
