btw we "got tRump" because the Democratic establishment refused to embrace their populist base, unlike the Republicans who did.

please don't fall for the canard of "how are we going to pay for it?" have you never heard of Modern Monetary Theory? besides, the Republicans never say how they're going to pay for wars and tax cuts and furthermore, it's always been Democrat presidents that balance the budget and Republican presidents that explode it.

Natalie Schreiber That's fine and all. Don't misunderstand and think that I'm against Medicare for all. I'm completely in favor of universal healthcare. But we need to have a hard conversation on how we are going to pay for it before we implement it. Republicans use the excuse that lowering taxes will increase investment in the economy and will therefore increase revenue. It doesn't actually work like that all the time, vut they at least try to justify the cuts. Democrats have not given an intelligent plan on paying for this and it needs to happen. If we don't have a plan in place to pay for it when it goes into effect then suddenly we have a massive deficit crisis on our hands.

Nick Kerr 1) I like Bernie Sanders' M4A plan. 2) Modern Monetary Theory. 3) corporations and the highest income earners should be paying higher taxes anyway but also 4) don't discount the benefits of: not having to worry about in- network vs. out of network, random increases and outrageous deductibles, and not having your healthcare attached to your job, (just to name a few) which would be amazing for peace of mind and overall stress reducing, which leads to better overall health. Frankly I can't believe that anyone would actually argue to keep those things! Anyway, my original point is that I'm sick of hearing "how are we going to pay for it" when it comes to something like healthcare but there's never a pushback when it comes to spending on nonsense wars and greedy tax cuts for the ultra wealthy. Check out the podcast Pitchfork Economics it's quite enlightening 😀 have a good day.
