Xiaomi unveiled a luxury version of its SU7 electric sports car on Tuesday, saying the $114,000 model would rank as the fastest four-door car in production in a direct challenge to the likes of Tesla, and Porsche.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra adopts the design language of the regular SU7 with a few notable enhancements. The Ultra variant of this sedan adopts sporty bumpers, a big rear spoiler, and a wider body. 

Now, the Chinese newcomer has taken a stripped-out SU7 Ultra prototype to the famed Nurburgring Nordschleife, where it put down a quicker time than the quickest Taycan.

Whether or not the final record run actually winds up 20 seconds clear of Porsche's best, the SU7 Ultra may still wind up being the fastest four-door to ever hit a track.
