The film is a modern reimagining of director Ang Lee's groundbreaking 1993 romance of the same name. But instead of focusing on one relationship, it's really about a whole chosen family — played here by Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, Kelly Marie Tran and Korean actor Han Gi-chan in his first English language role.
Filmmaker Andrew Ahn joins us to talk about directing The Wedding Banquet, how Fire Island helped prepare him for the role, and the importance of honoring both Queer and Korean identities on screen with authenticity, — humor, and heart.
