Description

Dementia is one of the world's biggest killers, and perhaps one of the biggest thieves, stealing people's loved ones even before they pass away. But progress has been made in diagnosis, treatments and tests, thanks in large part to the work of Alzheimer's Society. On this year's Day for Dementia, part of the Insurance United Against Dementia Campaign (November 27), Dr Richard Oakley of Alzheimer's Society talks to editor Simoney Kyriakou of the Society's vision. This vision is for a world where dementia no longer devastates lives, aiming for Alzheimer’s disease to become a chronic condition, like diabetes or HIV, by 2050, allowing people to live a good quality of life and die with but not from the disease.
