Ogot's writings are a blend of her Christian upbringing and her Luo heritage.About the translator - Amarjit Chandan (b. 1946, Nairobi-Kenya) is an eminent Punjabi writer, editor, translator and activist living in the UK. He has eight collections of poetry and five collections of essays in Punjabi to his credit. His work is known internationally and has been translated into many global languages.
