0004 John Taylor Gatto - “The Seven Lesson School Teacher”
Description
No shenanigans in class today kids, because you need to pay attention and zip it while I read to you some of the most powerful words you’ll listen to this school year.
Teacher, author, education historian and philosopher John Taylor Gatto, God rest his soul, authored many books exploring the history and major problems with the “school system” in the United States. One such book, and one of his most popular was “Dumbing Us Down The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling.”
Gatto starts off the book with text from a speech he gave in 1991 while receiving the “New York State Teacher of the Year Award.” In his speech he rips the education system a new one and prophetically points out how the modern school system is churning out young people who are nearly incapable of developing into functioning adults.
The words from Gatto’s speech were a bell weather of what we are witnessing in much of society today, a confused, ignorant, misguided, morbidly obedient, materialistic sheepish population who is easily controlled and led to their own slaughter.
So sit down and stay still at your desk or face detention, while I put on my reading glasses and start this Dispatch.
