018: A Black Non-Binary Child's Traumatic Experience - Dr. Hisla’s Corner
Description
Children who are physically, mentally, and emotionally hurt suffer from traumatic stress and suicidal thoughts, especially when the person who hurts them is their family members. As parents, it’s our obligation to be at their side, to trust, support, and love them NOT hurt and abuse them for being who they are.
Dr. Hisla Bates is a psychiatrist, fashion designer, and artist who helps people with medication management and treatment of psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and disorders associated with chronic medical conditions. She also helps creatives use art to heal themselves through burnout.
In this episode, Dr. Lulu and Dr. Bates talk about the viral video of a black child who has been bullied by his own family and records it to post on social media. They discuss the impact and trauma of a child suffering from this kind of environment.
