Leadership skills are often misunderstood. In this episode of Doctor's Lounge, we talk to Dr Salman Waqar about what makes an effective leader,   



Salman has recently completed the Foundation Programme in the West Midlands and is currently a Clinical Fellow to Prof. Wendy Reid at Health Education England (HEE). He graduated from Imperial College London, where he also intercalated with a BSc in Cardiovascular Sciences. At university he was an Ambassador for the College; elected as Trustee of the Union; and served on a national body representing over 120,000 students to UK & international government, higher education institutions, and media. He has extensive experience in widening participation and improving accessibility in education. He has also been invited overseas to speak about the UK undergraduate medical experience.  



Dr Salman is also the founding members and general secretary of the British Islamic Medical Association (BIMA).



I asked him about what makes an effective leader and if one can train in becoming one.
