Dan Edwardes is the founder and CEO of Parkour Generations, a multi-award winning and multi-national organisation for parkour, and has studied practical movement and physical fitness his entire life, with an elite background in fighting arts before finding parkour. He created the globally recognized ADAPT Qualifications which have been delivered in over 35 countries, as well as the Parkour Fitness certifications, and the worldwide Parkour For Schools Programme. Dan was also central to the creation and success of the world’s first National Governing Body for the discipline, Parkour UK. His education programmes have been accredited by numerous international bodies and focus on the science and art of coaching and movement, and on instilling a culture of excellence in every person. Across a twenty year career in teaching Dan has delivered courses, workshops and events to tens of thousands of people worldwide and has no plans to stop.

I find interest in what Dan Edwardes says about over training and Dan says one has a tendency to over train in Parkour. Im not qualified in parkour by any means of the imagination but I involve myself where overtraining is almost necessary to gain the training I wish to achieve. But at the same time being aware my immune system can get depleted. Even before I knew about Parkour but when I had just changed my fitness routine a, year into indoor bouldering at the age of 63 and then I found out about gymnastics. I would attend stretching classes and do moves where I believed I was pushing my body beyond its limits. There was a downside that was quite uncomfortable. This discomfort was especially worse at night while I tried to sleep and would have to be on permanent pain killers. However on the plus side, my body eventually learned how to move around the pain and I stopped taking pain killers. I am often aware of injuries that plague my everyday life.
