#021 - Tyson Cecka | NERDYmade
Update: 2020-03-04
Description
Is that sturdy? Either indoors or outdoors we rely on the obstacles we use to not break when jumping on them but how do you know ahead of time how they are going to behave? Through exploring the process Tyson takes in designing and building parkour obstacles you’ll improve your ability to spot flimsy setups and be able to start building new obstacles on your own. We'll hear his insights on physics through breaking things, go over methods and resources for equipment construction, and share stories of things going wrong and lessons learned.
Tyson Cecka is well known in the parkour community for his innovative parkour design and construction work, in addition to being an athlete and coach. A co-founder of Parkour Visions, Tyson stepped down from leadership with the organization in 2017, after 10 years as its executive director. He also started STURDYmade, an awesome online community of parkour builders involving videos, plans, reference projects, and experiments.
The 2019 Art of Retreat North America is brought to you by our supporting sponsors: Parkour Visions, Enso Movement, Parkour Generations Americas, Zen Planner, Dynasty Fitness, and Movers Mindset.
A special thanks to Craig Constantine and Miguel Chero of Movers Mindset for the production of this episode.
