Description

In this SPARK, "The Adaptive Athlete," Rafe will introduce ecological dynamics, task constrained learning for optimal skill acquisition, explicit vs implicit learning, and how do develop open skill abilities in parkour practice.

Rafe Kelley is the founder of Evolve Move & Play and a co-founder and former lead instructor of Parkour Visions. He has training parkour for 14 years and teaching for almost that entire time, prior to parkour Rafe trained in gymnastics for 5 years and martial arts for 10 years. He has since expanded his movement method through diving back into martial arts Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiujitsu, Capoeira and Systema, studied contemporary dance, and done extensive research on motor learning, play theory, ethnography, evolutionary biology, and neurobiology to better understand human movement how to best optimize it.

The 2019 Art of Retreat North America is brought to you by our supporting sponsors: Parkour Visions, Enso Movement, Parkour Generations Americas, Zen Planner, Dynasty Fitness, and Movers Mindset.

A special thanks to Craig Constantine and Miguel Chero of Movers Mindset for the production of this episode.
