Flexibility is the key 弹性是关键
Maybe as result of China’s incredibly competitive work market, the workplaces tend to be a lot more flexible than in the West. You should just be ready at any moment for changing your script or the editing of your commercial, and without any additional time or budget. Yet on the other hand, people will accept to answer your email Saturday evening (something unheard of in Europe) or work all night as you are the boss. All of this results in a huge turnover of delusional employee who want to find a better chance in other companies.

The boss is the king in his domain, so whatever has been said before that person will always have the last words even if you carefully planned a project during hours and hours of meeting with his subordinates. But if you are flexible and patient enough, that should not be a problem right?

If you work in an international private company or a state-run one, the way things are handle internally might be really different. Also China’s has come a long way since the beginning of it’s economic reform ; so figures like “the middle man”, who take a commission only to put people in contact, tend to be less important.
