For those who may not know the history of Agent Orange - this was a chemical herbicide used by the U.S. military during the Vietnam war to spray and kill all any crops and forest cover for the Vietnamese troops. It is estimated that somewhere around 11 million gallons of Agent Orange was sprayed and the exposure to which has left its mark on thousands of people dealing with serious health issues consequently.

Our guest on the TonicMan Show, David Dion Sr., was one of the lucky ones to make it home, but not without suffering through a series of really terrible health complications as a result of Agent Orange exposure. Of the 105 Navy men on his submarine, David is the only one that is still with us today....

Here is his story:

“I was there from 1970 through many years in the Navy and I’m going to tell you something about submarines…they had to bring water on, and so when you’re drinking agent orange and you’re bathing in agent orange, and you’re eating food that’s agent orange and you have your holding tank on that submarine and that holding tank is flushing that water out because nobody knew what we were going into….

we were off the coast of North Vietnam and all that water with agent orange, and the helicopter and the people was blowing back into their faces and was in the water, and it went into the ocean, and it stayed with me, and it stayed with me…” – David Dion Sr.
