鳥類的五感之味覺 : 鳥類味蕾大多在30到400個之間，人類約9千，鯰魚約十萬。相形之下，鳥類的味覺並不敏感。但是，鴿子可以分辨食物中澱粉或蛋白質，人類無法分辨。鳥類對辣椒素似乎沒有感覺，某些鳥類偏好甜食(像是鸚鵡，蜂鳥)，有些鳥類喜歡吃苦的東西。
