We had the pleasure of sitting down with Journalist, Poet, Creative Writer, Playwright and Theatre Producer, Wellington Xolani Makwakwa to discuss The Industry of Writing, Theatre and how that sector can be improved as well as his upcoming Theatre in The Garden project, "Gogo's Boy".
Wellington's Biography
Zululand Observer Journalist and Entertainment Section Coordinator. Former editor at Writers In (Joburg), Freelance Writer for the Soul City Institute and Rise Magazine as well and seasonal Contributor for e-TV and eNCA as well as The Citizen.
Founder of the King Cetshwayo Theatrical Society, with several theatre productions under his belt - such as "Death of the Emperor Shaka,, "The Devil's Autograph", "Hlala Ngentombi", "Whisper Between Blood Stains" as well as "Gogo's Boy".
Founder and Director of Uphaphe Writing Club and he has an upcoming book, "The Naked Truth".
He holds a BA degree in Communication Science from the University of SA, Journalism Diploma from the Caxton Community Newspaper Training Academy and Advance Digital Journalism qualification from UNISA.
His work has emerged him a Caxton Cadet of the Year award, Caxton Most Promising Journalist (Top 2 National Finalist), Entertainment Journalist of the Year, Community Hero Award, Spirit of Ubuntu Award as well as the 035 Journalist of the Year 2018.
