I just want to say being "self aware" of your social perception isn't always a bad thing. I have lived my life both ways and when I was younger and concerned with the way people perceived me I had more people that liked me, my social life was fun and full but as I grew older I became more cynical and basically stopped caring what others thought of me. Naturally it's less attractive and when you REALLY don't care you loose the desire to explain yourself and that sometimes results in false opinions from the way people perceive you. I've lost friends and missed out on potential relationships because of this and especially when you get older there are regrets associated with this so it goes both ways. I wouldn't change how I am completely but I think there's a balance to be found that generally speaking is healthier.

Jeff Slater Yeah, I’ve been kinda alienating myself for the last year and it is risky when I want to include myself in social situations (including online interactions) and I don’t have the relevancy to be taken the way I think I’m presenting.

Without a single doubt my favourite JRE episode ever. Hell, I'd go as far to say that it is definitely my favourite episode of any podcast ever! Naval is on another level! What a clear minded, rational human being! Unbelievable!

Brains will automatically push memorized thoughts out of "work memory" when those things are fully understood. Understanding gives space to memorize new things.

what about ubi and no more minimum wage. that'll encourage automation where applicable and drive entrepreneurialism in order to gain the additional income. right?

His "Utopia" sounds like Finland to me. Free education, affordable housing or almost free, free high speed internet for everyone...etc

I can not name a single human being asking for equality of outcome...

Sigurður Pálsson Then you should probably do a little more research on what that encompasses. Every engineering graduate working at Starbucks bitches about there not being a job waiting for them upon graduation. Every squeaky wheel who believes he should have what the hard workers on his field have is practicing it. More generally, the folks who believe it's the taxpayers' job to compensate them for their failure in life are also practicing it. Maybe look at it more as a term to describe people who believe the world owes them something they were unable to achieve when given the same opportunity as those who did.

The argument against UBI is weak. Andrew Yang backs it up way better.

Ryan Gibilterra I'm always interested to hear the arguments about why it's better to be reactive vs proactive
