I would be interested to hear why Nick assumes there are millions of simulated experiences (versus 2 or 5 or 100). He never fully explains where he gets this number from. Maybe this is why Joe was confused?

dude literally answered his question, for such an open minded dude I'm shocked he couldn't grasp this concept.

To put it succinctly Joe, there's a higher probability that we are in a simulation, as there would be countless sims and one base real reality. Anything that's happened, in this world, could've been simulated, from the base reality as a template. If we one day create simulations, we may, be creating a simulation within a simulation.

It's very obvious Joe didn't comprehend what he was saying with the three probabilities. Joe's "probablity" that we are not in a simulation but possibly headed into a time where we will eventually be in a simulation is covered by the three probabilities. He was just saying the probability that we are in the "simulation probability" just before the simulation becomes is a small probability.

Nick: it's possible we're in a simulation Joe: how can you possibly assume we're in a simulation? Nick: LISTEN JOE I'M NOT ARGUING WE'RE IN ONE JUST THAT IT'S POSSIBLE Joe: but isn't it possible that we're not? Nick: *flips over desk*

This was the absolute most frustrating episode ever. I would've been fine if Joe had said he didn't understand. But, to repeatedly state that he DOES understand, followed by tortuous questions that reveal he doesn't understand the premise at ALL caused me to scream at Joe. Wow... Hey Joe, probability IS a kind of evidence, and when that evidence is consulted, it is most likely that we are in a simulation. It's THAT simple.

We are not in a fucking simulation. What a waste of good minds, to study this topic that simply is not happening. Every answer is 'its possible'. Hilarious. Next.
