In this episode writer and filmmaker Chris Kraus speak about the difference between writing and film making, her influences and of the summer she got her first camera. The Los Angeles-based writer and I met in Stockholm a couple of days before the opening of her show at Index, which coincided with the launch of her book Summer of Hate in Swedish.

Chris Kraus: Films Before and After at Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation presents films made by Chris Kraus between 1982 and 1995.

The films are also available online here

The actress Chris mentions in the podcast is Sylvia Rauan. The play Min fantastiska väninna based on Elena Ferrante’s four-book series Neapolitan Novels played at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern.

I love Dick and Summer of Hate have been translated into Swedish by Modernista, a Swedish independent publishing house publishing fiction as well as non-fiction, along with a series of Swedish and foreign classics, both as e-books and in printed form.
