great podcast. mindfullness saved my life. I do have my religion entertained with it, but my blood pressure dropped from prehypertension, anxiety and PTSD disappeared nearly, and my ability to focus among many other benefits . I do believe plasticity has much to do with it, considering along with my intense-ish meditation practice (first Zazen, then more Vipassana for a minimum of 30min, 1hr x2 a day) i had a striking personality or beoief change that led to drastically different actions and elements of personality. i will say i am not sure about its relationship to skill learning, i cant speak on that especially compared to hypnosis, but thats interesting for sure. i do understand many peoples stand offish to Hindu and other eastern practice, but Buddhist style meditation can be practiced alone without other elements. it is unfortunate so many charlatans and conartists attach themselvesto Eastern thought claiming crystals and cures etc. much of eastern practice is a buffet, take what you like and leave the rest lol. great cast

Listening to Joe rant about the homeless problem is hilarious. We have homeless vets who have been abandoned by the government they signed up to fight for. Go to any VA and see how many homeless are nearby. I worked in Santa Monica transporting 911 calls and the majority of the homeless people I transported weren't from California. Maybe instead of complaining about the problem, use your platform to help find a solution, like I don't know advocating for mental health agencies.

I love how when someone doesn't get it, they just say, "fuck this guy."
