Today’s word is: intimidate. The meaning of intimidate is:  to frighten, pressurise or threaten with an intention to compel someone do something, to fill someone with fear

The word intimidate means to scare or force someone to do something or to pressurise someone.


For example: The gang of criminals entered the bank and tried to intimidate the manager.


Listen carefully how we can use the word intimidate in 8 different situations in 8 different sentences.


Example number 1 of 8:  Megha had prepared very well for her speech. But just before her speech, she got intimidated by the large crowd. Her mother recognised this and encouraged her to speak with complete confidence.


Example number 2 of 8: The advocate of the opponent made every effort to intimidate the witness. Nevertheless, the witness did not get affected and remained firm on her statement.


Example number 3 of 8:  The protestors were protesting outside the parliament against the newly introduced laws. In response, the authorities called a troupe of soldiers to intimidate the protestors.


Example number 4 of 8:  The eminent surgeon joined a new hospital. On the very first day, he asked his staff not to get intimidated by his reputation. He assured them that they will all work as a team.


Example number 5 of 8:  The management of the mall was successful in intimidating the owner of a small restaurant. His restaurant was near the entrance of the mall. They forced him to vacate his existing place and shift somewhere else.


Example number 6 of 8:  Radha came from a small village to a Metro city for her studies. Initially, she was intimidated by the crowd and the speeding vehicles. Later, she adjusted to the routine.


Example number 7 of 8:  The world championship game was scheduled. It was a prestigious match between the present and past champions. Both players spoke and gave statements to media with an intention of intimidating the opponent.


Example number 8 of 8: The agents of a business group were after the government officer to get certain approvals. The officer did not yield permissions unless certain procedure was completed. The agents tried to intimidate the officer, but he refused to oblige.
