Vandaag spreken we met Karen Boers, CEO van FARI, over AI voor het common good in België en Europa.
We starten bij een introductie van FARI als onderzoeksinstituut van VUB en ULB, met focus op AI, data en robotica voor maatschappelijk nut. Van daaruit duiken we in toepassingen zoals smart cities, gezondheidszorg met exoskeleton, en uitdagingen rond data bias en governance. We bespreken de AI Act als risicokader, de balans tussen regulering en innovatie, en hoe Europa tech-soevereiniteit nastreeft tegenover grootmachten als de VS en China. Maar wat met high-risk toepassingen in onderwijs, huisvesting of surveillance, en de nood aan human oversight?
