24. Rest [Podcast]
Description
I’m noticing a trend in my life right now, and I’m wondering if you’ve noticed it, too. I spend my days surrounded by motivated go-getters and women on a mission. Ambitious women blur past me on their way to meetings and events, always heading somewhere exciting, important, and big.
But recently, I’ve noticed we’ve been moving with a little less oomph in our step. Our greetings are groggier than they were last month. It feels a little bit like we’ve been running back-to-back marathons since we set our 2019 goals on January 1st.
We are savvy. We are ambitious.
We are tired.
Anyone else out there hitting a wall, or is it just me?
In this episode, I’m talking about the importance rest. My hope for this message is that comes to you at a time when all you’re hearing is hustle, but what you really need is to allow yourself to slow down for a minute and reconnect to why you’re working so hard in the first place. I want you to know that this episode is coming straight from the heart; I’ll share my story of getting caught up in my own state of overtired, overbooked and overwhelmed.
Because I don’t want to add to your already overcrowded to-do list, I offer a simple, one-step solution. When you are about ready to crash, quit, or completely burn out…
Rest.
Take a deep breath with me.
(You did it, didn’t you? I love that trick!)
Now take in this wisdom from my very own mom, who always knows exactly what to say:
“You can do this. You will do this. But you don’t have to do it all right now.”
