Q&A

  • What is the speaker's proposed solution to de-escalate the conflict with Iran?

The speaker suggests restraining Israel by limiting their offensive capabilities and defense funding. They also propose engaging regional allies to bring Iran to the negotiating table and potentially lifting some sanctions on Iranian oil as a diplomatic incentive.

  • Why does the speaker believe President Trump is uniquely positioned to resolve the current international crisis?

The speaker believes Trump is known for his ability to take decisive and drastic action. While acknowledging the urgency, they feel he has the potential to extricate the US from the complex situation, unlike other presidents.

  • What factors contribute to the perceived reluctance to take stronger action against Israel?

The speaker attributes this reluctance to the influence of the Israeli lobby (like AIPAC), significant financial donations from pro-Israel individuals and groups, and the strong support from the evangelical community in America.

  • How can foreign entities influence US policy, according to the speaker?

Foreign entities can influence policy by bypassing official intelligence vetting processes. They can provide information directly to key decision-makers, who may not be familiar with intelligence protocols, thus shaping perceptions and decisions.

  • What is the speaker's view on the current state of the MAGA movement?

The speaker believes the MAGA coalition has become significantly fractured due to recent actions and policies. They emphasize the need for seriousness in delivering on promises and correcting course to preserve the movement's integrity and future success.

  • What are the speaker's future aspirations and how do they plan to serve the country?

The speaker aims to influence policy by reaching the President and serving in a national security capacity. They want to leverage their experiences to ensure the country's future and prioritize national security interests.

  • What are the speaker's concerns regarding the influence of money in politics?

The speaker believes the Supreme Court's ruling equating money with speech has corrupted the political system, allowing elections to be bought through unlimited Super PAC donations. This financial influence leads to politicians being "bought."

  • What is the speaker's advice for young people considering military service amidst current conflicts?

The speaker advises young people to carefully examine the objectives and agendas of any potential military engagement. They stress the importance of prioritizing the well-being of fellow soldiers and making a well-informed decision about risking one's life.

  • How does the speaker believe a draft would impact the likelihood of prolonged wars?

The speaker argues that a draft would act as a check on the government's ability to engage in prolonged wars. By spreading the burden of service across the entire population, it would make it harder to sustain wars that lack broad public support.

  • What does the speaker identify as the most pressing threats to the United States?

The speaker prioritizes homeland security, citing concerns about open borders and the potential influx of terrorists. They also acknowledge ongoing counter-terrorism threats from groups like al-Qaeda and ISIS, and the strategic advantage China gains from current global conflicts.

Show Notes

Joe Kent is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces officer, former CIA paramilitary officer, and until recently served as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, stepping down from the post in March 2026 following a principled disagreement over U.S. policy in the Iran war.

An Oregon native and graduate of Norwich University in Strategic Defense Analysis, Kent served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, completing 11 combat deployments across the Middle East and other high-threat regions. His military career included service with the 75th Ranger Regiment, Army Special Forces, and U.S. Army Special Operations Command, earning numerous commendations, including six bronze stars. After retiring from the Army in 2018, he served as a paramilitary officer in the CIA's Special Activities Center.

Kent brought decades of frontline counterterrorism experience to the role, shaped in part by personal sacrifice: in 2019, his wife, Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Shannon Kent, was killed in a suicide bombing while serving in Syria.
