On this week's episode of the Northeast Newscast, Managing Editor Abby Hoover is joined by NourishKC's Executive Director Mandi Jean Retter. They discuss NourishKC's belief that food is a basic human right, and how they're focusing their efforts on feeding people in Kansas City. NourishKC's Kansas City Community Kitchen located at 8th and Paseo feeds hundreds of people a day, and works in collaboration with the Beehive, a group of human service agencies collaborating to assist unhoused Kansas Citians. They host food pantries in Kansas City and stock their kitchen and pantries through food rescues from local restaurants and grocery stores. Learn more about NourishKC at nourishkc.org.
