Born in 1985 in Eastern Tennessee, Charles went through a difficult childhood and adolescence until he joined the Marines at the tender age of 17. He fought in Iraq, witnessed death, destruction, and suffering, and returned to the USA, where he is still searching for his path, burdened by what he has seen. He has undertaken two six-month-long hikes with a combined length of nearly 8,000 kilometers. He tried to overcome the struggles in his mind through physical pain, fasting, and self-destruction.

Rojen leta 1985 v Vzhodnem Tennesseeju je Charles šel skozi težko otroštvo in mladost vse do vstopa v marince pri rosnih 17ih letih. Boril se je v Iraku, videl smrt, uničenje, trpljenje, se vrnil v ZDA, kjer še danes išče svojo pot z bremenom videnega na hrbtu.
