On the barren planet of Karn, a scientist has been putting together a body made of different species to ultimately house the brain of Morbius, a Time Lord cult leader once sentenced to death. He’ll need a “proper” brain to practice the procedure on first, but luckily the TARDIS has just landed carrying a perfect candidate: the Doctor.

To complicate things, a group of immortal women who worship a “sacred flame” responsible for an elixir that grants eternal life have become aware that a Time Lord has arrived on Karn. Under the assumption that the Doctor has been sent from Gallifrey to steal the elixir, the Sisterhood is prepared to do whatever it takes to protect the source of their immortality, especially if it means killing a Time Lord.
