5: Alaska's Seward Highway, An All-American Road
Description
In this episode, we’re celebrating National Road Trip Day by heading to one of the most spectacular states for riding a motorcycle: Alaska. We’re going deep on the Seward Highway, one of only 37 All-American Roads, and the Kenai Peninsula. We also chat with Michelle and Marcus Munro who run Alaska Motorcycle Adventures.
If you’ve been dreaming of riding to the Last Frontier but you’re not sure where to start, this episode is packed with inspiration.
A few of the stops mentioned:
Beluga Point
Indian Road
Portage Glacier Road to Whittier (via train track tunnel)
Ferry from Whittier to Valdez
Kenai Fjords National Park
Hope
Palmer Creek Road
Restaurant recs from Michelle and Marcus:
“Chair 5 in Girdwood. And I hear that summit Lake lodge is very good, although I can’t confirm. In Seward you have the Highliner, Rays, or Reds Buss for burgers.”
“Double Musky in Girdwood is my #2, Dirty Skillet in Hope is my favorite in the state. That ice cream shop in Girdwood is money too.”
“If you like Thai food, Woody’s Thai Kitchen in Seward is pretty good.”
“Girdwood Brewing Co. has some pretty good food trucks in their parking lot in the summer.”
“Seward Brewing Co. and Resurrection Roadhouse in Seward are also awesome!”
Just a reminder that these restaurants may have some funky days and times that they are open for business, so check their website/FB first before making plans.
