#59 The One With The Courtroom Shootout
The Allens were a wealthy and politically connected family in the years following the Civil War. Floyd, the main patriarch figure in the family, used this to his advance to keep him from jail time for his many brushes with the law. Floyd was famous for stating that he wouldn't do any jail time as long as blood flowed through his veins, which worked for him until 1912, when the Commonwealth Attorney, William Foster, was dead sit on Floyd being tried for the assault on a Sheriff. Floyd didn't agree with the verdict returned in the case, and what has become to be known as the "Hillsville Massacre", was the result.
