6. Hard things made easy with Tara Stiles founder of Strala Yoga
Description
She knows all about wanting to do and do and finding it hard to slow down. And therefore Tara Stiles has made it her life mission to slow down, soften and help others feel better in their mind and body through easy going yoga.
Strala Yoga is created by Tara Stiles and combines the wisdom of tai chi, qigong, Japanese and Chinese medicin, natural movement and yoga to help people release stress, heal and do even hard things in life in an easy going way.
A lot of water has gone under the bridge since Tara Stiles was announced the rebel yogi by New York Times. It was never the plan to create her own style of yoga with her husband cofounder Mike Taylor, but sometimes life just happens. She is still today a down to earth rebel, which biggest wish is to guide people to move and feel better. For decades Tara Stiles has been traveling around the world sharing Strala Yoga with people who want to live a life with ease by practicing yoga and passing it on to others.
Under the pandemic Tara Stiles and family moved back to Illinois, where Tara Stiles was born. After decades on the run traveling the world and having a studio in NYC they decided to move closer to family and nature.
In this podcast Tara Stiles shares her thoughts about the fast growing industry of wellness, yoga, spirituality, religion, social media, becoming a mother, getting closer to nature and what she has learned by going through hard life changing experiences in her life.
Highlights from the interview:
- When you soften you get more. You learn to use everything to the best of your ability and can do more.
- Teacher is not a bad word, but for me being a guide means someone guiding an experience, that is what we do in Strala.
- Strala is about moving with ease and moving well, so you can stay in the process of doing more and using your energy.
- I love the process of making softness the goal.
- “When we act like ourselves. And get comfortable with that, We can relate better to everybody”
- When I think of spirituality I think about service and using my energy for the power of good in the world. It always comes back to gratitude for me.
- If easygoing yoga is rebellious that is what I am doing.
- Put your phone down and go for a walk without your phone and be present.
- Share the things you love, then the conversation will be more meaningfull with the people you share with.
- People are not mad if you don’t share every moment in your life. They will love you for what you do share, that is more meaningful to you.
- Life is not online it is in the world.
- There is a time to take pictures, and there is a time to just be in the moment.
- The more simpler the activity, the bigger the impact.
