Description
九州新幹線が全通する前は新八代駅で博多行の特急と接続しており、同じホームで在来線と新幹線が乗り換えする方式が取られていました。かつて博多と鹿児島を結んでいた特急つばめは、新幹線が一部開通した後は「リレーつばめ」と改称して走っていましたが、全通後は在来線の特急列車から「つばめ」の名前が消滅しました。
Before the Kyushu Shinkansen was fully operated, it was connected to the limited express bound for Hakata at Shin-Yatsushiro Station, and the conventional line and the Shinkansen were transferred at the same platform. The Tsubame Limited Express, which used to connect Hakata and Kagoshima, was renamed "Relay Tsubame" after the Shinkansen was partially opened, but after all the trains, the name "Tsubame" was changed from the limited express train on the conventional line. Has disappeared.
