Description

On occasion of the Eighth day of the ascending (waxing phase) of the moon, listen to chanting of Durga Suktam and Devi Suktam.

This is considered to be a very good day for accessing the energy of the goddesses : Durga, Pratyangira and Parahi.

In the bhardapad month, that is. During the time of Ganapati Festival, this is the day for celebration of Gauri - as a part of the "Gauri-Ganapati" festival in Maharashtra.

Goddess Durga is known as Mahishasur Mardini - the destroyer of evil forces and the slayer of the demon Mahishasura.

Goddess Pratangira protects from evil forces and bad influences, particularly witchcraft and occultism.

Goddess Varahi is a Devi with the head of a boar. She was created to banish all evil forces and she is also known as Shakti.

These verses or stotars have been narrated by Sriram for the Podcast Chants of India by Sriram and brought to you by gaatha story.
