the resigned sheriff's response to the latest theory is making me very uncomfortable.

Water under the bridge but for the sake of finding Tom and finding out what happened to him, I wish two particular men had not brought awful aspects of their personalities to bear.

What a solid podcast. Wish it was easy to find more of the good stuff like this.

I feel really bad for mom. I think he took his own life, sadly. he probably never imagined it would turn into a circus. mom is in denial.

He tragically killed himself. The family knew it. They wanted a coverup. He came out to someone. mom obviously isn't ok with that. they had a fight which is why he was making plans to spend Thanksgiving somewhere else. I think the last episode nailed it, he died within a few miles of where his granddad killed himself. no way that was a coincidence, he was trying to get there and got tired and ended it a few miles short. These incompetent men are just sort of there. its not surprising there is a hothead PI and an idiot sheriff, it's completely unrelated. It is obviously very sad for this family but what on earth are they doing?! all this for what? crazy story.

I think Tom died by suicide. I think the family knows, which is why they wouldn't let the police into their house the night of Tom's disappearance. I think they hired Klein so that his team would find Tom's body. I think that most likely , Tucker found Tom's phone in his car when the police returned it the next day. I think Tucker probably planted the phone during the search. I think it is all a coincidence that the sheriff is inept. My guess is the police missed finding the phone in the car during the search and it was still there when returned to the family. I don't think there is a cover up. I don't think he was murdered. I think if it were an accidental shooting, someone would have talked by now.

I am completely overwhelmed with this shown.. the producers writers and narrator has done an amazing job laying out all the facts that they were able to garnish during their investigation.

So the Sheriff can make crazy accusations against the deceased and the family of the deceased based on nothing but his opinions but when he's accused the accusations are laughable and hurtful? I guess evidence doesn't matter to him 🤷🏼‍♀️ The cover up is real!
